What Is Vitamin B12?

Cyanocobalamin: Vitamin B12 Cyanocobalamin is a compound that is metabolized to what is commonly referred to as vitamin B12. The richest sources are liver, fish, and eggs. It is essential to the replacement of cells and for the maintenance of the myelin sheath which insulates nerve fibers.

Vitamin B12 is important for the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system and for the formation of blood. Being naturally found in foods of animal origin such as meats, strict vegetarians must be careful make sure they do not suffer from a deficiency of vitamin B12.
